Application of Adjacent Bits XOR Arithmetic of Key Replacement Based on WEP Protocol

Article Abstract: At present, the WEP(Wired Equivalent Privacy) protocol of IEEE 802.11 had been mainly used in data encryption on wireless local area network(WLAN).Based on the encryption method of WEP protocol, the same key streams would be easily appeared by using the same key in the relative period of time. These same key streams would become security risks of the net.The introduction of key replacement mechanism based on the WEP protocol, can give an effective solution of this problem. The limited static keys provided by WEP protocol, can be improved by using the arithmetic of adjacent bits xor. This method can make all nodes of the network replace key under the specific instruction.Compared with using repeated key stream in same net enviroment, this program can effectively solve the problem that same key hardly be replaced by WEP protocol in a long period of time, and improve the safety of the system.
