Efficacy of low - dose olanzapine combined with venlafaxine in the treatment of senile depression.

Article Abstract: Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of low - dose olanzapine combined with venlafaxine in the treatment of senile depression. Methods 77 eases of senile patients with depression are randomly assigned into two groups, venlafaxine group （monotherapy group） and lowdose olanzapine combined venlafaxine group （combined group）, all the patients were scored by Zung Self- Depression Scale in 2 weeks, 3 weeks, 1 month, 3 month after treatment respectively, meanwhile adverse drug reactions were observed. Results The efficacy of low - dose olanzapine combined venlafaxine group was significantly better than that of venlafaxine group in the treatment of senile depression （ P 〈0.001 ） , there was no significant difference of adverse drug reaction between two groups （ P 〉 0.05）. Conclusion Low - dose olanzapine combined venlafaxine is significantly better than venlafaxine alone in the treatment of senile depression.
