Domestic Multimedia Network System Based on Peer-to-Peer Technologies



The rapid growth of domestic multimedia applications is demanding the higher multimedia transport and processing capacity of the network. In view of the performance bottleneck of traditional client/server architecture, a new domestic multimedia network system based on peer-to-peer is proposed. The functional architectures of the system is described, as well as the service process. Moreover, the advantages and disadvantages brought by peer-to-peer technologies are comprehensively analyzed. In the end, the prospective development of peer-to-peer technologies in domestic multimedia applications is overlooked in the perspective of users, operators and manufacturers.
